Software Democracy in 5 minutes
Ideas
- Our society is quickly drifting towards a totalitarian system; Software Democracy returns power to Citizens through a set of applications.
- These applications manage identity, voting, and the economic system. They implement the Constitution and the Law in their Code, making society less sensitive to corruption.
- Citizens are represented by randomly selected delegates who manage daily politics; Citizens always have the final say.
- The economy of Software Democracy is an economy of abundance where virtuous behaviors are strongly incentivized.
- Software Democracy is built alongside the existing system and replaces it once critical mass is reached.
At the heart of Software Democracy
Software Democracy is an operating model for society: human rights, state, justice, economy, education, health, science... In all these areas, it is about making citizens responsible and sovereign, respecting their individual freedoms and giving them an equal chance to contribute to society.
At the heart of Software Democracy, there are:
- A Universal Constitution that embodies fundamental values. It is the founding text of Software Democracy.
- National Constitutions that adapt these values to local specificities.
- Educated, involved, and above all sovereign citizens. They are the rulers of Software Democracy!
- An open-source information system that brings the system to life: regular voting secured by the blockchain, digital currency that implements the economic rules chosen by the citizens, absolute protection of privacy.
The institutions of Software Democracy
To support this direct and participatory democracy, institutions are adapted:
- The legislative power is responsible for organizing the voting and voting on laws daily. It can decide to submit a Law to citizens, just as Citizens can question a legislative vote. Citizens always have the final say.
- The executive power is responsible for executing citizen decisions.
- The judiciary power is independent. It checks the constitutionality of proposals and applies the laws of Software Democracy.
- A powerful counterbalance is put in place by the Citizen Oversight Council. It monitors the institutions from within and can directly solicit citizens in case of failure.
- The personnel of these institutions are drawn by lot whenever possible, and the rules governing their mandate are very strict.
Software Democracy in the world
Software Democracy is designed from the outset as a globalized system that unifies Nations around a set of strong values through the Universal Constitution. It is not about standardizing global culture but enabling collaboration between Nations while valuing their diversity.
Thus, all national citizens automatically become world citizens, and a direct voting system is put in place. For the first time, international decisions can be made directly by the citizens of the world! As at the national level, international institutions are adapted and implemented to organize voting and execute citizen decisions at the international level.
The economy of Software Democracy
Software Democracy aims for an economy of abundance. There is no doubt that billions of humans, aided by artificial intelligence and machines, can meet the environmental challenges associated with this abundance while raising the living and education standards of the poorest. There is no limit to human ingenuity!
But abundance does not mean anarchic development and counterproductive growth. The economic system is therefore organized to encourage individuals and businesses to adopt virtuous behaviors. For example:
- It must be more expensive to produce ultra-processed foods than natural foods.
- The health sector must be rewarded for the good health of the population rather than its permanent state of illness.
- Industry must be incentivized to produce durable and repairable goods rather than organizing planned obsolescence.
- Etc...
In Software Democracy, the State is financed through taxes and levies collected automatically through the computer programming of the economy, at rates voted by citizens and regularly adjusted.
The State uses a significant portion of these revenues to finance a universal income, sufficient for each person to live with dignity, freedom, be a citizen, and choose how to contribute to society.
The transition
Decentralized, transparent, democratic, the Software Democracy is the antithesis of the current system: we cannot expect it to be embraced by the status quo!
However, it can be built alongside the system, peacefully and collaboratively. Ultimately, it is only a collection of applications that we will trust!
As these different applications are implemented, the Software Democracy will attract new users/citizens and grow exponentially. The goal is to reach a critical mass as quickly as possible, making it impossible to ignore.
What can the system do if a majority of citizens unequivocally support a particular political direction? If the economy of the Software Democracy gradually allows its users to disconnect from the system?
The goal of the transition is to quickly build a set of computer tools that will initialize the Software Democracy and raise awareness that the means exist to take our destiny into our own hands. Once this awareness reaches enough people, a new era will begin.
One does not resist the invasion of ideas.
