Global warming

Is there global warming? Yes.
Is it caused by human activities? Yes.
Is it a problem? Yes!

Is it the end of the world? No.
Will our children die from global warming? No.
Do we have a good strategy to fight global warming? No!

Hypocrisy

Global warming is a fabulous windfall for the system. It allows them to adorn themselves with ecological virtue to justify all the restrictions to come, such as those inaugurated by Covid: passes, taxes, limitation of travel, CBDC - CCDC... All these means of control will be put in place "to save the planet".

Except that global warming is not a matter of individual behaviors. Global warming is agriculture (fertilizers), industry (plastic, steel...), construction (cement)... It's our economic machine, our model of society that generates emissions. And it's this economic machine that allowed us to get where we are, to lift billions of people out of poverty, and ultimately to enable the emergence of the Internet as the new medium for information. There is no turning back!

Moreover, the weight of the West and in particular Europe in global CO2 emissions is low (EU = 7.5%), and is weakening every day, as emerging countries develop. Even if we were to cancel our emissions in two or three decades, at the cost of extreme impoverishment of the population and the establishment of a true ecological dictatorship, the effect on global emissions (and thus warming) would be almost zero.

Economic prosperity is energy abundance. By imposing more expensive energy, we sabotage our economic competitiveness, impoverish our population, all in a vicious circle that will impose increasingly drastic measures of population control. It's a losing bet!

A Pragmatic Approach

For civilization to continue on an upward trajectory, the fight against climate change must be approached in precisely the opposite way:

Ultimately, in a free world, the energy transition will occur naturally when renewable energy is cheaper than fossil fuels. This will be the case whether in the West, China, or Russia.

This tipping point is already close, it is only production capacity that is lacking... And political will! Indeed, this pragmatic and optimistic strategy would not justify the implementation of liberty-restricting policies... Yet, as we have said, the system needs them.

Therefore, rather than locking ourselves into a suicidal policy of emission reduction, the winning strategy is to continue our growth while investing massively in less carbon-intensive energies.

Human civilization will continue to evolve. Pragmatic measures well within our reach will limit the impacts of warming. A rapid decrease in emissions will be possible once the tipping point is reached. Our technological level will certainly allow us to decarbonize the atmosphere.

Not only is climate change a problem within our reach, but it offers us the prospect of a humanity capable of acting intelligently on the climate of its planet to keep it healthy; that is the real challenge!
